At Pharmacycle, we believe small actions can lead to big change. That’s why on Friday, 25 July 2025, we’re launching something we’ve been working toward since the beginning. It’s called National Blister Pack Recycling Day.
This isn’t just about recycling. It’s about inspiring connection, purpose and real impact. All through the simple act of returning your used medicine blister packs.
The highlight of the day will be a live event at Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne CBD. Everyone is welcome to stop by and drop off their empty blister packs for recycling. For every pack collected, we’ll donate 10 cents to Melbourne City Mission, up to $500. These funds will go toward helping young people and supporting local programs.
Recycling your blister packs on the day means helping the planet and the community at the same time.
This day also celebrates Pharmacycle’s third anniversary. Since we started in July 2022, Australians have helped us recycle over 82 million blister packs. That’s millions of packs kept out of landfill. All recovered materials are sorted and reprocessed locally.
We’ve built this program alongside households, pharmacies, hospitals and councils. Together, we’ve created one of the most effective recycling systems in Australia.
In a time when greenwashing is everywhere, Pharmacycle focuses on being real. We are committed to transparency and trust. People who recycle with us know where their materials go and what they become.
But this day isn’t just about recycling. It’s also about connection. We’ve heard from carers, retirees, pharmacists and young people. Many have said that being part of the program gives them a sense of purpose. Saving blister packs may seem small. But it helps people feel like they are part of something bigger.
